Purpose of the job:

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Current students or recent graduates from a related VFX/Animation, Computer Science, or Arts program.
  • Digital artists that can model, paint textures, animate, light, render, and/or composite. Experience with CG tools such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke or Shake and Photoshop is required (for texture painting, Mari experience is a plus).
  • Programmers and Technical Artists with experience in C, C++, and Python
  • Available minimum 40 hours per week (standard day 9am – 6pm)
  • Candidates must possess excellent written & verbal communication skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff.
  • Must have attention to detail and be able to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently manage workload while subject to time constraints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot creative and technical challenges.

Obsidian Entertainment is looking for self-motivated artist to draw props and environment concepts for a highly stylized 2D world.This artist will be responsible for working under senior artists to help create aesthetically pleasing environment designs from sketches to final illustration. A good knowledge of Photoshop or Illustrator (graphic design work may be applicable) is a must. This internship focuses on illustration but is a great way to build a solid foundation for a career 3D environment art. An art test will be required of all applicants.Requirements:
•    High proficiency with either Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter or Flash (preferably more than one)
•    Strong knowledge of architecture, perspective and lighting
•    Solid grasp of color theory
•    Ability to rapidly master proprietary tools and development pipelines
•    Ability to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions
•    Receptive to art direction and critiques from project art leads
•    Strong foundation in traditional art
•    Strong organizational and communication skills
•    Passion for gamingPlusses:
•    Worked on website design or mobile games
•    Experience with any 3D programs and environment art
•    Familiarity with After Effects or similar video/compositing software

Neversoft: VFX Art Intern

Location: Woodland Hills, CA


Neversoft Entertainment, located in Woodland Hills, CA, is currently seeking a paid Visual Effects Artist Intern to work on our new FPS. If you can build and texture awe inspiring effects, and have a passion for creating game art, then we are looking for you.

· Use internal VFX editing tools to create high quality effects that fulfill the requirements of the game’s functional, art and technical/performance specifications.
· Use 3D packages such as Maya and/or 3D Studio Max to create high quality 3D art assets that augment those effects as needed.
· Work closely with Game Designers and Programmers to create top-quality video games.
· Understand the requirements and constraints of the game design, engine and platform.
· Ability to relocate to the L.A. area for 3-6 mos.


· Visual Effects authoring experience with one or more existing effects editing solutions.
· Ability to author texture source from scratch or photo/video reference, and create looping texture sets through use of Photoshop and After Effects
· Understanding of compositing techniques.
· Maya and/or 3D Studio Max experience
· Understanding of shading and lighting techniques for real-time 3D characters and environments
· Team player & strong communicator
· Self-motivated with a strong artistic vision that allows you to complete tasks without supervision
· Strong interest in and general knowledge of video games
